About dISIP
dISIP is a new full konpa band with a live horn section. dISIP, based in Miami, Florida, was founded by veteran musicians Gazzman Couleur & Gabriel Laporte. Former bandmates, Gazzman and Laporte reunited in the studio and have been working diligently to put dISIP together. Their first single, "Pa Kondane'm," made its debut in the beginning of March 2010 with vast approval from their prospective audience. The musicians who complete this band are as follows:
Gazzman Couleur
Gasman Pierre, better known by his stage name “Gazzman Couleur,” is an actor, businessman, and Haitian konpa singer. Before becoming a popular vocalist, Gazzman was a soccer superstar with dreams of making it to the major leagues. Unfortunately for Gazzman, a knee injury shattered those dreams. Fortunately for konpa, however, Gazzman entered the Haitian music scene. Gazzman became an instant hit with the fans of Haitian konpa music as a lead vocalist in bands such as Zenglen Plus, D-Zine, and Nu Look. Always challenging himself, Gazzman entered the Haitian film industry starring in the movie "Meet My Cousin." Whether it be for his voice, charisma, talent, or magnetic personality, Gazzman is known to attract thousands of fans who completely adore him. He hopes those same fans continue to follow him as he makes new ones with his new band dISIP de Gazzman Couleur.
“This band right here, dISIP, is my calling,” states Gazzman.
“It is with dISIP that I will make the impossible possible and seal my legacy.”
Gabriel Laporte
Athlete, producer, studio engineer, singer, lyricist, pianist, bassist, and guitarist. Gabriel Laporte, a native of Cap-Haitien, Haiti, is a man of many hats with his favorite being a guitarist. From running the soccer fields to commanding on stage, Laporte strives to excel in any and all of his activities. With music being his main passion, Laporte’s musical resume is quite extensive as he was a member of some of the most historic konpa bands. This list includes: Nu Star, Zinpie, Kazak Experience, Zenglen Plus, Zel, Nu Look, Fuzion, Zenglen, 5 Etwal, and most recently, dISIP.
“I have been a member of many different bands, mixing my identity with their sound,” says Laporte.
“Sure, I stood out but with dISIP the band is mine. Fans will get to see many sides of me that hey have never seen before.”
Patrick Pluviose
Besides talented, when one thinks of a word or two to describe Patrick Pluviose, humble and reserved immediately comes to mind. In spite of these personality traits, Patrick manages to stand out because of his talent. Patrick began to play the guitar professionally in his first band, Kazak Experience, in Cap-Haitien, Haiti. From Kazak he went to Flanm; and from Flanm to the United States. In 2001 he would become a member of Nu Look, playing the roles of guitarist, arranger, songwriter, and composer. Major hits composed for Nu Look include: “Lanmou Nou Pap Fini,” “Souvenir,” “Illusion,” “Notre Histoire,” and “Legacy.” After 4 years in Nu Look, Patrick left to pursue a career in information technology. He remained musically active, however, by gigging and composing for different bands no matter the genre. Eventually, being a part-time musician was no longer an option.
“I missed the stage and I missed the fans,” confessed Patrick.
“When dISIP came calling, I saw it as the perfect 2nd chance to make it up to my fans who missed the popular guitar combo of Laporte and myself in a konpa band.”
Lesly “T-Doo” Charles
Lesly “T-Doo” Charles started out as a drummer in Haiti with interest in all percussions. Many did not know of his skills as a gongist until he started to jam with bands on stage for fun. Impressed with his display of talent, popular konpa group Zenglen hired T-Doo for all of their international shows. More doors opened for T-Doo and he became a member of Neks, Gabel, Hangout, and Bel Jazz, earning numerous chances to perform at major festivals and concerts in many different countries.
“When one door closes, another one opens,” expresses T-Doo.
“I was destined to be a musician and I will always be one in konpa.”
Ricot “T-Tanbou” Amazan
Ricot “T-Tanbou” Amazan has been part of the Haitian music scene for nearly a decade. He is known behind the scenes for being both a talented producer and lyricist. His love songs have been hits amongst the ladies with the most recent composition being “You Are the One” with former band, Bel Jazz. Several bands in the past and present have acquired the services of this young talent on the stage or in the studio, including Neks, 509, Konpa Kreyol,
Harmonik and Djakout. With expertise in percussions and average height, Ricot earned himself the nickname “T-Tanbou.” Ricot states,
“In music, I get a chance to express myself, my feelings, and the many thoughts and feelings of other. There is no greater satisfaction.”
Jean Baptiste Louis
Jean Baptiste grew up in a family of musicians. The nephew of the late Coupe Cloue, he developed a passion for the bass guitar and percussions almost as soon as he could walk. Of all the percussions, he decided that the drums were his favorite at the tender age of 5. Ever since then Jean Baptiste dreamed of playing in a professional band one day. His dreams started to come true in 2005 when he began to play the drums in church and for several gospel acts. He would eventually crossover into konpa music as a drummer for Stanley Toussaint aka Tantan followed by Bel Jazz.
“Music is in my blood and I love konpa,”Jean Baptiste confesses.
“I can’t see myself doing anything else.”
Marc “Sexy Beef” Celestin Jr.
Marc Celestin Jr. aka Sexy Beef is a versatile musician. Not only is he an R&B producer, but he is also a drummer and bass player. Sexy Beef, as many other musicians will attest, was introduced to musical instruments through church. At only 7 years old he began to play the drums during mass. A few years later, at the age 10, he would go on to pick up the bass. He entered the konpa scene as a gigger for Stanley Toussaint aka Tantan. He started to play the bass for Tantan nearly 8 years ago and has since moved on to dISIP. Sexy Beef states,
“I was offered a great deal and there was no way I was gonna let this opportunity with Gazzman and Laporte in dISIP go by.”
Michel “Dobodo” Yves Clement
Michel Yves Clement aka Dobodo decided on music as a career ever since he was a teenager. He often imagined himself playing on stage in a top band with fans dancing to his melodies. Fascinated with the musical family of strings, he learned to play the guitar and the keyboard, coming 2 steps closer to accomplishing his goal. Two big breaks in his career would come when he played for Lakol for 5 years and Jacque Sauver Jean (Jackito) for 4 years.
“Playing the keyboard is my greatest passion,” shares Dobodo.
“I am going to share that passion with dISIP and give it all that I got.”
