Tony Moise and Jacques Vabre were among the first members of Laurenceau's Orchestra. From the latter stemmed a smaller group named " Les Manfoubins",when the Laurenceau brothers emigrated abroad in 1963 " Who were they; Les Manfoubins?
Les Manfoubins began with two guitarists, Tony Moise and Jacques Vabre. In addition to these two pioneers, Smith and Franky jean Baptiste,Leon Millien and Clovis Saint Louis became the stylists of the rhythm section.When Jacques Vabre resigned for health reasons,Serge Rosenthal,Milot Toussaint and Dada Jacaman surfaced.As a result,a new group named Shleu-Shleu was bornin 1965
Shleu-Shleu performed at private parties,hotels and clubs such as Villa Creole,El Rancho Hotel, Montana Hotel,Cabane Choucoune, Berg Hotel and at the famous Rond Point. Two albums were produced while Shleu Shleu was in Haiti. They were "Haiti Mon pays" 1967 and "Haiti Terre De soleil" in 1969.
In May 1970,Shleu-Shleu signed a contract to perform at Casa Boriquen in New york. Triumphantly,the group entered the big apple and played with grace and distinction. At the end of the contract,most of the musicians remained in New york and exhibited their talents at various clubs.Dada and Serge Rosenthal returned to Haiti and formed Shleu-Shleu D'Haiti. The group broke up after two years and consequently,the musicians individually entered in NY and created a new group. They could not call it Shleu-Shleu because Original Shleu-Shleu was registered in New york State;they named it SkahShah
Shleu-Shleu produced several albums and CDS.They are:Grille Ta Cigarette,Trou Crabe,En filant les Aiguilles,Kann Kale, OSS Boat People,Cinquieme Synphonie,Shleu-Shleu nan Kem,Rond Point Live,Shleu-Shleu Instrumental Shleu-Shleu 49th Anniversaire and Chat La. Actually,Shleu Shleu is still performing at clubs and Restaurants.
